Dang it, I was hoping to patron this place one last time before their lease ended. I only tried one item and that was their deep fried chicken momos. It wasn't anything spectacular; the real advantage was if you didn't want to venture deeper into Jackson Heights for some dumplings. But what really stood out at Gakyizompe was the decor. A real immigrant ambience. The walls were lined with curtains and other household items and a vhs movie playing on a non-descript tv, you'd be curious if you were actually eating in someone's home. This doesn't do anything for the regular patron but it invoked memories of when the small Vietnamese community would huddle in a basement church come annual holidays. Well, margins were probably pretty small. Off the next time capsule.

A no frills restaurant where you just know the foods going to be good. The food took a bit to come out but it was packed with flavor. We got the mutton soup which doesn't look the most appetizing at first but has so much flavor. We got the beef momos and chicken thali as well- felt like the meats all tasted a bit gamey but overall great flavors and nice service. They even came with a giant bowl of rice and offered us more!

Great hole in the wall Tibetan restaurant off the beaten path! Tasty authentic and cheap food, don't go there to be impressed by the decor- But with friendly staff and quality food you can't miss!

I am impressed, Gakyizompe is really rather darn cool. Great location, great ambiance. I was totally impressed with Mutton Thali, it was done perfectly. Terrific food. Excellent service with smile. I would recommend Gakyizompe.

No frills hole in the wall Tibetan and Bhutanese spot... Honestly wish these guys would do more business- Great food- Humble people

Amazing freaking food. Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! The food is by no question 5 stars, but this place is really a hole in the wall with a creepy bathroom and no liquor license - hence the 4 star rating. The menu consists of Himalayan and Nepalese options and in my opinion, boasts the best of both in all of Sunnyside. And the SAUCES!!!!! All of the sauces are incredible: tasty, full of flavor and ranging in heat. My chicken lollipop likes to swim in a soup of sauce and i love every second of it, every time. The prices are very reasonable; any time i visit the bill always amounts to less than $15 per person and sometimes $10 for a ton of consumed food as well as doggy bags :) A few of my favorite things: -Chow Mein (Chicken, Pork all are yummy) -Cold Chicken Noodles -Spicy Bhutan Pork or Chicken with cheese -Crispy Momo -Chicken Lollipop
